Situated on one of the most traditional character neighborhood in the Achrafieh district of Beirut, the designated study area is next to one of the main mansion built in the 18th and 19th centuries along this historic street.
In the late 70’s an existing structure was assembled from demolished building’s facade, to be used as an annex to the main mansion.
The project transforms its interior into a rented 2 bedroom apartment, and its roof into an archive room, for consulting all of the Client’s archives and documents.
”The historic monuments of generations of people remain to the present day as living witnesses of their age-old traditions.” The Venice Charter 1964.
The project works as a link between old and new, because of its important integration with its built environment, especially when heritage, preservation and conservation are an integrated part of the social, architectural and urban discourse.
